Pink Slip Summer Mix
We are such nice people that we don't just want you to be well versed in dresses, we want you to be well versed in culture! This means anything from make-up to movies to products and music, duh.
Here is a fun summer time mix of the music that we are listening to! You can download this and enjoy it!
CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE PINK SLIP SUMMER MIX CD
Track Listing For YOU!:
Animal Collective - My Girls
This song is crazy, but in a good and kind of psychadelic way. Love it.
The Noisettes - Never Forget You
This fills the void for the lack of 1960 girl pop groups in the world today.
God Help The Girl - God Help The Girl
Besides being kind of funny, it's good for any girl who likes to kick some ass (p.s. try on a regular basis not to use too many expletives in our every day life but this one was required... just sayin')
Madonna - Material Girl Vs. Hey Mickey
Recently we decided we like these kinds of mash-ups. Listen to how fun this song turned out!
Camera Obscura - French Navy
We just realized the first half of this cd is chick heavy, and the second half is dude heavy.
Those Dancing Days - Action Man
Michael Jackson - The Way You Make Me Feel
We are missing Michael SO MUCH. This is one of the best songs to listen to in the summer. Does anyone remember how great this video was? YOUTUBE IT!
Tommy Roe - Dizzy
It just seem to fit? We like it - summerish, old, fun, tambourines, bike riding kind of music.
Devendra Banhart - Carmencita
We know you guys are going back to school soon so maybe this will help you brush up on your Spanish.
The Fiery Furnaces - I'm Going Away
Scene Points.
Islands - No You Don't!
More Scene Points!
Yo La Tengo - Periodically Double Or Triple
This is one of our favorite bands! Check out all of their musica.
Bright Eyes - Devil Town (cover)
Because we know it's not a mix if Bright Eyes isn't involved and this song is great for those of you who are leaving for college and can't wait for new surroundings and if you think your friends are vampires.

Art Attack: Stella McCartney's Fall Ads
How amazing is this? Stella McCartney, one of our favorites, has gone ahead and used Bambi as her cute little muse! Check out the great juxtaposition between the forest and the animated animals. It's nice, cute, and whimsy and Pink Slip LOVES it!

Products We Love: Vera Wang perfume
We have always loved Vera Wang perfume. It is really light and classic. I have been wearing it for years - actually longer than I care to remember, and I still get a lot of compliments on it.
I have always been partial to the classic scent, but have recently been turned on to the Princess scent.
I was actually searching around, and came to realize the Vera Wang Princess perfume has one of the best web sites ever!
From the homepage you click "begin your reign". From there you are virtual princess and given the chore pick out your outfit, jewelry and date for your party. It’s so cute, and I spent way too much time going through it....I just couldn’t stop myself!

Pink Slip Swoon: Johnny Depp
Who knows what makes Johnny Depp so attractive. He is the bad boy, the villain -kind of like the bad boy your parents don’t want you to date, but you do anyway because you don’t care what they say. So you put on your leather jackets, hop on his motorcycle and ride away together - just like in every movie we have ever seen.
And plus he somehow makes a thin mustache look not creepy.

TV Moments We Love: Jesse's Song
We thought we were on the same page with our blog readers until recently when we found out that some of you don't even know who Audrey Hepburn is! This is TROUBLE!
Hopefully you are old enough to remember one of the BEST sitcoms ever to hit television "Saved By The Bell" - this show was one of our all time favorites! We counted on Saved By The Bell on Saturday mornings and after school to bring a touch of happiness and realism to our day.
The sets were ridiculous, the plots were unbelievable and the characters were hysterical. We suggest you buy the DVDS ASAP!
Here is one of the greatest TV moments ever! This scene is from the episode "Jesse's Song" - When Jesse was too stressed out at school with her geometry midterm, singing in her girl band "Hot Sunday" and being the student body president she took to caffene pills to keep her awake. Eventually Zack found out, and here are the results:
You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll wish you were alive when this episode first aired.

Pink Slip: Marketing Campaigns
Ok, so you may think marketing is yawnsville...but I beg to differ! Maybe I'm a nerd, but give it a chance! There are some really great and inspirational things out there. Take for example, the "Dove: Real Beauty Campaign" which is arguably one of the most powerful marketing campaigns in recent years.
This campaign got universal attention by taking the notion of 'real beauty' and turning it on its head.
Dove ditched the traditional "aspirational" marketing messages that tell women and girls that if they buy a particular health or beauty product, they can look like a supermodel.
Instead of images of long locks, longer legs and incredibly lean bodies, uses the message of "real beauty" by encouraging women and girls to celebrate themselves as they are — while using the products, of course.
I remember when I first saw this a few years ago, I was really taken back. It was really about time someone stepped up with this!
Below are some TV spots...
Only wish I would have thought of it!

When Happily Ever After Isn't So Happy
We like to think that Cinderella married her Prince, The dwarves moved in to Snow White's new castel, and Sleeping Beauty finally decided to pick PINK as her dress color of choice for all of her balls, but did you ever think about what would happen if these princesses lived in our world and found that happily ever after isn't so happy?
We are obsessed with these funny and eye-opening pictures from photographer Dina Goldstein who created a series entitled 'The Fallen Princesses Collection'
Here is my personal favorite - Snow White might have wished she stayed back with her dwarf posse.

Fab Icon: Anne Hathaway
We wrote before on our first FAB ICON - Michelle Williams and now we are posting our number 2! ANNE HATHAWAY! What a long way she has come from her Princess Diary days. Anne is a total beauty and has a great sense of personal style. We love her because she is what she is, no excuses, nothing to live up to, she doesn't apologize, and she is confident in her clothes. We love her wit and her classic look:
Anne loves the bows, something Pink Slip has a lot of!
Check out our updated online store to find a bow-look similar to Anne's!
