Hey Ladies! Homecoming season is right around the corner and we’re here to give you tips on the best styles for this dance season. We know that these kinds of events only come around so often and to make sure you look your best, do a little research before you start the hunt for your dream dress! We suggest you focus on three elements: shape, color, and style.

Shape


Picking the shape of your dress is one of the most important parts of the shopping process. Before you venture out, take some time to look at pictures and styles that you are interested in by checking out magazines and websites! We recommend trying multiple different shapes before you decide on just one!

It’s important to find what part of your shape you’d like to highlight. Pick your favorite feature and let your style flow from there. Keep in mind your options: Do you want a specific neckline? Would you like a cinched waist? Are you looking for a short or a long dress? Consider these things as you’re surfing the web, and then head out to your favorite shop and try things on!

A lot of times at our boutique a girl will come in seeking something very specific. Keep your mind open to a lot of different styles and shapes! Try everything! You never know what might surprise you. Just because you see a dress that doesn’t look stellar on the hanger doesn’t mean it’s not the dress for you!
Color

Every season there are trends in dress colors – for homecoming, we throw those out the window! When it comes to color, we love them all! The important part is picking a shade that is right for your skin tone.

Color

Olive Skin

If you’re an olive, chances are your skin has that year-round glow! Pick something that is rich but bright. Turquoise, fuchsia, and aqua would be great options for your picture-perfect dress. Keep your mind open to adding bright accents in your hair or with your accessories.
Fair Skin

Light skin always tends to look its best when it’s paired with deep and clear colors. Mix it up by trying a navy blue, black, or even a red! Check out how great the contrast will appear with your complexion. Avoid colors that will blend into your skin tone such as light pink, tan, and gold.
Dark Skin

For those of you with dark skin, the brighter the better! Shocking Pink, a bold yellow, white, or lime will make you the life of the party. Continue to add color with your accessories to brighten up your look. Keep away from deep colors that will drown you out!
Rosy Skin

If your skin tends to always have the faintest color of pink attached to it, we suggest you avoid the dark colors all together! Warm colors like gold, taupe, and mauve are perfect for you. Change up the warmth by picking pieces with dimension such as a lace or floral print.
Style

At our store we certainly encourage personal style! Seek out something that has ‘you’ written all over it. Do you tend to like flirty dresses? Are you comfortable in loud colors and bold prints? Are you known for always having the most sequins? Wear something that represents you! Take chances and be bold, but express your own unique outlook on fashion.

Our biggest piece of advice is to pick something you feel comfortable wearing. Find a shape, color, and style that makes you feel happy and confident on the dance floor! Follow these few tips and you’ll be ready for a great evening!

The Show Is Over!

And what a show it was! We had the best time! It was a perfect day, we had a great turnout, and everyone seemed to have really enjoyed themselves!

A White House Fit for a Fashionable First Lady!

The White House has moved to Mokena! You are not going to believe how AMAZING Pink Slip looks. Everyone who knows us or has been to the store knows that we love pink and black, but to say that we've added a little red, white and blue would be a major understatement! The Jackie Kennedy fashion show is only 5 days away so time is running out to buy your tickets to the event. IT'S LESS THAN ONE WEEK UNTIL THE JACKIE KENNEDY FASHION SHOW!! Pink Slip officially looks like the white house and we cannot wait for all of you to see what we've done to it! Tickets are only $10.00 and since there will be two shows you can come at 1:00 pm or 4:00 pm! One of the many perks of coming to the fashion show is that Pink Slip will only be open to attendants of the event on August 28th. We are going to have a huge specialty dress collection that you will be able to see before anyone else! Also, if you see a model wearing a dress that you absolutely love, it could be yours! We will have a list of all of the dresses featured in the show and we will be taking the names of those interested in purchasing them.
