Pink Slip Swoon: Jim Sturgess

You may have seen "Across the Universe" you may not have. But really who cares. The only thing that makes any difference is how our hearts drop every time we see Jim Sturgess.

I cant even stand it. I think every movie he has been in was too short because I can stare at him all day...just sayin.

Pink Slip Says Goodbye

Yesterday was a sad day with the loss of Michael Jackson and Farah Fawcett-

MJ gave us many things (in the 80s) he taught us how to moon walk, he made arguably one of the best videos of all time- Thriller-, told us “it don’t matter if your black or white”, introduced us to Billy Jean, and wrote one of the most inspirational pump up songs of all time….. We know we don’t have to say it but we will….. “Man in the Mirror!” – 80s Michael will be missed, weird shrinking nose changing skin color Michael- we kind of ignored you anyway-

And Farah Fawcett what can we say- you are probably the hottest babe to ever walk the planet- as Wayne and Garth would say… “We’re not worthy/ We’re not worthy!”

TV Moments We Love

There is nothing better than teaching this routine to your 3 year old god-son! Remember that!

Movie Madness!

You know what's awesome? Netflix
You know what is even more awesome? Netflix Instant movies that play right through your computer
You know what is even more awesome than that? Netflix suggesting you check out the documentary entitled "Seamless"

Seamless is a film that follows three designers/design houses (Proenza Schouler, Cloak, Doo.Ri) trying to make it in the fashion industry. The difference here is that all three of these designers are already well known names vying for the CFDA/ Vogue fashion fund that help catapult their lines and help these designers survive with an award of 200,000 dollars.

Overall, this movie is a great look at the business side of the industry. For those of you who want to design, this film will give you a good idea of how important it is to remember that your name is also a business, and a great business mind will get you just as far as a great design mind.

Our favorite designers on the documentary were the fluffy but loveable team of Proenza Schouler. You will remember them from their TARGET: GO INTERNATIONAL collection.

Here are some of their amazing designs. We love Proenza Schouler because they are another great example of two young industry people who made a success for themselves! Not to mention they are totally adorable.

People You Should Know: Sommer Terry

Fashion would not be possible without the outlandish minds of costumers. We take ideas every day from costumes we see whether it be in the movies, or couture runway shows with garments that would never be practical for real life.

Sommer Terry, a native of Texas, attended Columbia College Chicago where she studied fashion retail management. The school's costuming program in L.A. catapulted her career in L.A.'s fast lane. Before Sommer knew where her journey was taking her, she found herself on the sets of movies like Bob Funk, Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, and Dance Flick. However, it's her assistance on Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland that looks like her golden ticket to a magical land of outrageous costumes and blockbuster films, and awards a plenty for these beautiful characters.

We love people like Sommer - at only 24 she has already gained great success in a field that she loves. We can't wait to see more of her costuming and styling on the big screen. Sommer is a great inspiration for those of you who are looking to find realistic ways to break in to the fashion industry.

Check out these great images from Tim Burton's new flick:

Pink Slip’s (not so) Guilty Pleasures:

ANTMM- America’s Next Model Marathons- there is nothing better than curling up on the couch to find your dreams have come true and ANTMM is on! We can’t get enough- maybe it is because Tyra is so wise and shares her personal experiences in every challenge, photo shoot, judging panel, and basically any opportunity she has! Obviously our favorite episodes are the Cover Girl commercial photo shoots- and if you tell us you never practiced the Wet Lips Lip Gloss commercial we know either A) you are a liar or B) you haven’t lived! As Tyra would say “Girls want to be that and guys want to be with that” we LOVE it!

a plain woven cotton, rayon, or linen fabric: traditionally a striped cotton with alternate stripes crinkled in the weaving.

Swoon....

If you have SHOWTIME you should be very excited because Season 5 of the totally underrated dramedy 'WEEDS' has returned! Finally! What will happen to Nancy Botwin this season!? We are anxiously awaiting. And though the plot is enough for us to want to tune in each week, we can't help but look forward to seeing one of the shows greatest characters, Silas Botwin (son of Nancy, brother to Shane), played by Hunter Parrish.

Why is he flying so under the radar. He is so cute!

Absolutely Swoon worthy!

Products we love: Johnson and Johnson Baby Lotion

We totally love Johnson and Johnson Baby Lotion. No, neither Lauren or I have kids (it's for the best, trust us), but who says you have to be a Mom to love soft skin?

We have been using this lotion for years. It has been kind of a beauty secret. Maybe not a secret, because we tell pretty much everyone we know...but nonetheless!

What it is really great about it is it smells very clean, but not overpowering - just very simple. There is nothing worse than when you can smell someone 10 minutes before they walk into the room. It runs about $6, so it totally works within any budget.

Do yourself a favor and pick some up.

Things we love: Clueless

Clueless is one of our all time favorite movies. Lauren and I often work in quotes into our daily conversations. Do we get looks? Yes, we do. But who cares if you don't love Clueless, we think you're weird.

Aside from being one of the greatest things to come out of the 90's, Clueless can also offer some good life lessons - for example:

Boys:
So okay, I don't want to be a traitor to my generation and all but I don't get how guys dress today. I mean, come on, it looks like they just fell out of bed and put on some baggy pants and take their greasy hair - ew - and cover it up with a backwards cap and like, we're expected to swoon? I don't think so.

Love:
He does dress better than I do, what would I bring to the relationship?

Politics:
So like, right now for example. The Haitians need to come to America. But some people are all, "What about the strain on our resources?" Well it's like when I had this garden party for my father's birthday, right? I put R.S.V.P. 'cause it was a sit-down dinner. But some people came that like did not R.S.V.P. I was like totally buggin'. I had to haul ass to the kitchen, redistribute the food, and squish in extra place settings. But by the end of the day it was, like, the more the merrier. And so if the government could just get to the kitchen, rearrange some things, we could certainly party with the Haitians. And in conclusion may I please remind you it does not say R.S.V.P. on the Statue of Liberty. Thank you very much.

Art:

Tai: Do you think she's pretty?
Cher: No, she's a full-on Monet
Tai: What's a Monet?
Cher: It's like a painting, see? From far away, it's ok, but up close, it's a big old mess

Swoon...

In honor of Kanye West's B-day we're going to award our Swoon of the week to the self proclaimed super star of the world. Kanye is a great example of someone who you wouldn't look twice at if he was walking down the street, but with the right clothes and some over the top threats against the "game", society, and anyone on a lower level than himself, could become attractive.

Kanye is that bad boy who you want to have a relationship with but at the same time reform him enough to take him home to mom. You also want to know that if the opportunity arises, and he will verbally crush somebody in your defense. We like a man who uses his words as his weapon.

Kayne also gets points in the style department, his stylist must have his work cut out for him daily, you can only dress a divo (male form of a diva) for so long before they toss you to the wolves for not keeping your look fresh.

Fab Icon: Michelle WIlliams

A Fab Icon is a little less than a style icon. To be a style icon, you probably needed to jump on the scene pre-Saved By The Bell. This would give you a good 20 year stint to cement your icon status. However, there should be a term for those who have been consistent with their style for the past 10 years. This means anyone who jumped on the scene during the Dawson's Creek era of life is acceptable.

Our first Fab Icon is none other than DC alum Michelle Williams. Since the show, Michelle has truly come into her own style-wise and has recently been making some awesome red carpet decisions. We love her because her look is so versatile, she can be shabby on the streets with her daughter, chic at the premiers, casual and stylish out shopping, we love it all! She doesn't just fit into one category, she can work all aspects of a trend without making it trite.

I'm not sure what Carly is grooving to this week so I decided rather than ask her, I would post a song that ALWAYS reminds me of her:

My groove of the week:

LOVE IT. LIVE IT.
