Betsey Johnson will always be one of our favorite style icons! Her style is so flashy and feminine and her brand is recognizable to everyone. We love that you can see pieces from her collection everywhere from the red carpet to your local department store. We think that it is essential to have a Betsey Johnson staple in your wardrobe weather it is an accessory, handbag or clothing item!

This Week's Jam

This week we are super into mash-ups and remixes at Pink Slip, so we have been listening to The Hood Internet non-stop as we prepare for our summer break! Currently, our favorite jam from The Hood Internet is " I XXXOed." We feel like it is the perfect summer song. If you are a fan of mash-up make sure to check out The Hood Internet! Swoon

We know that it is SO cliche to be swooning over this babe, but come on...LOOK AT HIM!!! Channing Tatum that is. We think that part of the reason we are so smitten with him lately is because we have been seeing trailers for his new movie, "Magic Mike" every single day. You all know that we think we are the best dancers EVER so we obviously love a guy who can dance as well or better than us. And honestly, that might be every guy in the world.  But wait until you see this man's moves!! As soon as you watch the "Magic Mike" trailer we know that you will be swooning over Channing and his dance moves as well!

Style Icon: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

This week's style icon is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The model-turned-actress was the new damsel in distress in the latest film from the Transformers franchise, Transformers: Dark of the Moon. This Week's Jam

If you know anything about us, it's that we absolutely love and adore Whitney Houston (R.I.P.)! One of our favorite songs of Whitney's is "How Will I Know." While we were mourning her death, yet celebrating her life and incredible talent, we came across this awesome cover of "How Will I Know" by Evan Dando as we listened to every Whitney song YouTube had to offer. Whitney's version of this song makes you wanna sing at the top of your lungs and dance around the room but Evan Dando's acoustic version is the complete opposite, which we are so into! His rendition of "How Will I Know" is so different from the original but still shows how great of a song this is! We hope that our girl Whitney would be proud and love this jam as much as we do!

We Love: Sprinkles Cupcakes!

At Pink Slip we are crazy about cupcakes, but there are few tasty treats that blow the others off the bakery shelves! Those would be the little delicacies from Sprinkles Cupcakes! If you haven't had the pleasure of indulging in a cupcake from our beloved Sprinkles you are missing out on one of life's greatest gifts! You can get anything from chai latte to chocolate marshmallow to lemon coconut and everything in between. We are so, SO happy that we finally have a Sprinkles in Chicago. If you are downtown enjoying the summer in the city we highly recommend taking a walk to our favorite gourmet bakery. Located right between Michigan Ave. and Rush St., you will walk out happier than you knew you could ever be!

Pink Slip News

Summer is here and we hope that everyone is enjoying their break! Even though it's not a nice, long two months, Pink Slip will be going on summer break as well! The store will be closed beginning July 1st and we will reopen on July 11th. During this time we will be doing some MAJOR store renovations in preparation for what will be our biggest homecoming season yet! We don't want to give too much away, but your favorite dress boutique will now be 2 floors! Keep in mind that the week before we go on break (June 26-30) will be our annual 70% off sale! Our summer hours will continue through the month of July: Tuesday-Friday: 12 pm-5 pm, Saturday: 10 am-3 pm and we will be closed Sunday and Monday. Normal hours will resume in August. We hope to see all of you during the sale and can't wait for you to see our new look in a few short weeks!

Model of the Week

Pink Slip's Model of the Week is Nina Kougan! She looks absolutely ADORABLE in this blue dress with the embellished waistline. Nina wore this dress to her 8th grade banquet. We love this piece because it is youthful yet adds a great deal of maturity to her look! With her dirty blonde hair coloring and fair complexion, this shade of blue was just perfect for her! We are so glad that she found the perfect dress!

Swoon

Nate Ruess is the lucky guy that we're swooning over this week. Being the lead singer of the band fun., people have just recently begun to discover his greatness. However, we have loved this guy for quite some time. Most people don't know that Nate was also the lead singer in the band The Format. We love Nate's music because it's timeless. Try to find one person between the ages of 5 and 50 that doesn't know the words to the hit single "We Are Young!"

Style Icon: Olivia Palermo

 Our style icon for this week is Olivia Palermo. For those of you who do not know much about this fashionista, she is a model and actress and was also a cast member on MTV"S "The City." We love everything about her sense of style, especially during the summer months. Olivia likes to incorporate a little bit of the tribal trend into her style. She is always seen wearing bold, multi-colored shorts and soft, flowy fabrics. Her look is always balanced by incorporating the perfect neutral accessories!

This week's jam is combining two of our favorite songs EVER written. "Call Me Maybe" meets "Walking On Broken Glass"..."Call Me on Broken Glass," if you will. This has got to be the best thing since sliced bread!! Everyone is still loving on Carly Rae Jepsen for coming out with her fab track and we all know that the second you hear the name Annie Lennox you think of "Walking On Broken Glass," so we're loving the combination of the past and the present into one AWESOME jam! Sing your hearts out, friends!

We Love: Ombre Fade Hair

It may not be a fashion trend, but it certainly is one of the hottest style trends: ombre fade hair! We are so in love with this hair style because it is a perfect example of grunge-glam. The definition of ombre is "a dark to lighter fade of color." As you can see, the roots of your hair are the darkest and the color fades out to your ends. Typically your ends should be about 3 shades lighter than the rest of your luscious locks. We also love this hair style because it is so low maintenance! It looks great down and straight, curled or pulled back. There are so many color variations you can do with the ombre fade hair style so we totally recommend trying it out this summer!

We Love: Colored Denim

You can pair absolutely anything with denim. From blouses to blazers, tanks to tee, everything complements a fabulous pair of jeans. We are so happy to see colored denim as a hot fashion trend for summer 2012. Even though neons are very popular this season, reds, blues and deep green hues are just as fashionable! Make sure that you incorporate a pair into your summer wardrobe!

Model of the Week

Emily Obradovich is Pink Slip's Model of the Week! She is wearing another one of our faves! This green was an incredible color for Emily! You can't see the beautiful open back from this picture, but it had rhinestones in addition to the sequins that gave this dress the "WOW" factor! Swoon

Who are we swooning over this week you ask? MAYER HAWTHORNE! To begin, he is always sporting a suit and his specs. And who doesn't like a man in a suit!? Many people might know Mayer Hawthorne because he has been a DJ for quite some time and was also a hip-hop music producer at one point. But now he is making his own music. Soul music that is! Well, soul mixed with hip-hop and a little indie vibe. Every one of his songs are upbeat and make you want to dance and party. And it's not just the songs that we love. His music videos are incredible! After watching the video for "The Walk" we fell for Mayer Hawthorne. We fell hard. We know that we will be swooning over this hunky musician for quite a while!

Olivia Wilde didn't always have the fab fashion sense that she has today. But now she is running Hollywood and being as seductive, enviable and gorgeous as ever! Whether she is wearing a casual maxi dress or designer couture, she is undoubtedly going to turn heads and have everyone talking. We love that she never lost sight of herself and her personal style when she made it big. She has always embraced the wild and edgy side all while looking absolutely beautiful.
